Puberty is an early sign that your first period may be approaching. It is characterized by the appearance of the breast bud (thelarche), growth of pubic hair (pubarca) and the presence of white or yellowish vaginal secretion

When does the first menstruation occur

The first menstruation (menarche) normally occurs around the age of 12, but it can occur earlier, after the age of 8 or even later at the age of 14. In the first two years, the cycles tend to be very irregular.
